Chapter Engagement

Ask students to take a minute a list some of the characteristics that they think inventors must have to be successful.  Then show Futures Channel Movie #1007, with the request that they watch the movie to decide if they were right.

Use the movie as a context for discussion of the terms “two-dimensional” and “three-dimensional”, and tell students that in this chapter they are going to be learning more about three-dimensional shapes such as those created by Chuck Hoberman.
