Ask students to list words they know that are related to geometry. Discuss answers, drawing examples of each as they come up. Once you have several drawings on the board, point out to students that there are four elements that are present in just about every drawing, and in this context review the concepts of point, line, plane and angle.

Ask students to makes note of examples of each of these concepts as they watch Futures Channel Movie #4005 The Art Director. After discussing their answers, explain that in this chapter they are going to learn more about these concepts of geometry that artists, architects, designers, and other people who work with shapes use in their careers.
