Show Futures Channel Movies #2013, 2014, and #2015, then arrange students in pairs or small groups and have them consider how they might solve the problem described in Movie Guide #6.  Through discussion, help students to understand that the solution depends on finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle when the lengths of the legs are known.

Tell students that they will learn how to do that in this chapter and how to use that skill to solve various kinds of problems.
